Payments & card readers

Get paid at the counter or from a text.

Record any payment on the repair order. With Shop Cloud and your own Stripe account, customers pay from a text link and counter card readers charge the exact RO amount, and both post to the RO on your signed-in shop devices.

Where payments get retyped

The total is right on the RO. Then somebody keys it into a terminal, texts a link from another app, and sorts out the bank deposit at month end.

  • Retyping amounts into a separate terminal.
  • A stale pay link for the wrong amount.
  • Deposits that don't match the bank.

One balance, wherever they pay

The reader and the link both know the RO's balance, and Stripe fees are booked so deposits match.

  • Pay links are made for the exact balance. A new link voids the old one.
  • Counter readers get the RO amount from the app, so nobody types it twice.
  • Stripe's fee is recorded with each payment and booked to card processing fees.

Three ways to take the money

A text link, the reader on the counter, or anything you record by hand. Every one lands on the same repair order.

Posted to the RO

Online and reader payments are recorded on the RO by your signed-in shop devices, with card brand, last four and Stripe's fee, and a payment-received notice on screen.

Refunds, all or part

The owner or a manager can refund all or part of an online or card-reader payment, right from the RO. How payments are secured

Customer financing

Show the monthly figure on bigger jobs

The customer's online estimate and inspection report show an as-low-as monthly figure above your minimum, with a link to apply through your own financing partner. Your team sees it on the RO too.

You set the partner name, application link, example APR and minimum.

  • 6 or 12 months
  • 6, 12 or 24
  • 12, 24 or 36
  • 12 to 60

The figure uses standard amortization, and final terms come from the lender after approval.

It's a display and a link. Applications and credit decisions stay with your financing partner.

How it flows

From ready to the books

The same balance goes from the invoice to the customer, onto the RO and into that day's QuickBooks entry. Nobody retypes it.

  1. Invoice

The RO is invoiced and the balance is set. The pay link and the reader both use it.

  2. Link or reader

The customer pays from the texted link, or taps, inserts or swipes at the counter.

  3. On the RO

A signed-in shop device records it with the card brand and last four. Paid in full, the RO closes.

  4. In the books

That day's QuickBooks journal entry carries the payment, tip, surcharge and Stripe fee.

FAQ

Payment questions

All questions
Where does the money go?

Straight to your own Stripe account at Stripe's standard rates.

Can I add a surcharge?

Optional, capped at 4%. It's added to card payments taken on the RO, by hand or on the reader, not to online pay links. Check your state's rules and card-network registration first.

Who can refund?

The owner or a manager. They can refund all or part of an online or card-reader payment from the RO.

Can I take Square?

Yes, as a payment link on the customer's online report. Texts and the live status page use it when Stripe isn't connected. The counter readers are Stripe only.
